It's fair to say that only a few of the Berber musicians have come to international attention. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Najat_Aatabou" title="Najat Aatabou">Najat Aatabou</a> and the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_Musicians_of_Jajouka" title="Master Musicians of Jajouka" class="mw-redirect">Master Musicians of Jajouka</a> are perhaps the best known.<br /><br />Following a visit to Fez Jake wanted to see if this traditional music has a place in the Says Who Music family. Our aim is to provoke a discussion about how music works in media. We'll be looking at some familiar questions and finding new answers and new ways of developing the role of music in media. Helping us answer these conundrums will be figures from all areas of the the media community.<br /><br />Initially we're going to be looking at 10 topics which can make or break your media project, both artistically and financially. We'll put together a summary of this particular journey when we've finished the 10th topic.<br /><br />Lets have a quick look at the topics.<br /><br />1 - How do you choose the music for your project?<br />2 - Does music really matter?<br />3 - Do you spend time thinking about characterization or do you focus on the mood of the scene?<br />4 - Do you know how to license music effectively and without hidden costs?<br />5 - Do you work with the composer a friend told you about who's not to busy to help out or do you go and source somebody special and get the price you can afford from them?<br />6 Copyright and clearance, how hard can it be?<br />7 Why you don't have to speak music anymore to find the music you want.<br />8 Demo score vs no demo score. What do you really want a composer for?<br />9 Recording and dubbing your score<br />10 Can we do that again please?
